What Does the Panic Button on Car Keys Do?

Almost all key fobs have the panic button. This button serves as a remote to the car's lock and alarm system. When pressed, it turns on the alarm system, which is the same as if someone hit your car.

The reason for using this feature is to find your car on a big parking lot or a crowded street after you have lost it. If your car is secured with the alarm system, then when you press the panic button, your car will make loud sounds and flashes from the lights to help you find it.

Also, the panic button can be activated from time to time to make your car alarm go off if your vehicle is parked in a deserted parking lot. This will ward off thieves from trying to break into your car.

The panic button feature is available on almost all the key fobs from major manufacturers, such as Ford, Fiat, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz. Use your panic button correctly and respectfully to all other people around the vehicle.
