What Is Flex-fuel Ford?

A flex-fuel vehicle (FFV or sometimes called a dual-fuel vehicle) is an alternative fuel automobile or light duty truck with an internal combustion engine designed to run on more than one fuel, usually gasoline blended with either ethanol (E85 FFVs), methanol, compressed natural gas, liquified petroleum gas, biodiesel blend(B20), or electricity.

For Ford, it means that the engine in the car can run on both original gas and also on ethanol-based gas. This type of fuel is cheaper and more ecological. But you can't just buy ethanol fuel unless your car is flex-fuel.

For many popular models like the Focus or the Ecosport, Ford offered the 2-liter flex-fuel engine that is quite powerful and efficient. The technology appeared to be popular with American buyers. But in other markets like Europe, this kind of engine isn't that popular.
