Where Is the Oil Tank in a Car?

Many drivers ask where they can find an oil tank in a car. But there is no special tank for oil. The engine oil goes down the engine after lubricating all the parts and gets to the bottom of the engine. Then it gets to a pump and from there it starts again its lubricating process.

The oil tank is actually the sump or just called the oil pan. An oiling system has many components: an oil pump, different valves, and an external device that removes any air bubble entrained in the oil. The oil in a car gets hot when the car is working and expands, so the oil pump adds more cold oil from the sump to maintain a stable pressure. In this way, all moving parts are lubricated with the required amount of engine oil.

An important note: you should change the oil filter every 8,000 - 10,000 miles or every year. Oil filters are a disposable part and cannot be cleaned. Regular oil changes will ensure that your engine runs as smoothly as possible and that you save money on repairs.

If you don't change the oil as required, metal particles from the wearing-out engine may contaminate the oil and damage the engine.

The oil is distributed to all internal components of a car such as cylinder walls, crankshaft bearings, camshaft lobes and gears, valve stems, and intake manifold surfaces. The oil control rings on piston skirts also receive lubrication from this system.
