Today's article is super unconventional for those who read CarAraC regularly because it doesn't give any practical DIY repair or maintenance tips. Instead, it will set you to the romantic tune and offer you 10 great destinations all around the US for a St. Valentine's Day trip.

Here they are:

1) Napa Valley, California

I put it number one because this is a great place for people who want to taste some great local wine and spend a night in one of the cool B&B hotels. This is probably not about a luxury trip but about great entertainment and adventure for a couple in love.

Also, the landscapes here are probably the most picturesque that I've ever seen, so I clearly recommend this place for your St. Valentine's journey.

2) Pacific Coast Highway, California

Here, the route itself is the destination. The highway runs along the coast and you will see different spectacular views of the ocean. Also, the highway will lead you to great places to spend some time like Carmel-by-the-Sea town, or take pictures like the Bixby Creek Bridge.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the most appropriate routes for this romantic day if you want a great road trip to remember.

3) Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia and North Carolina

If you prefer mountain views that change every minute and leave you speechless, this route is right for you. This is romantic, picturesque, and also very comfortable for driving. There are plenty of sights where you can take super-romantic pictures like the Linn Cove Viaduct and the Mabry Mill.

I strongly recommend this even if the place is quite hard for you to get to by your car.

4) Sedona, Arizona

Now, some more special places. Arizona offers red rock formations that will make the view outside so perfect you will stop and take pictures every 5 minutes. I don't know if it can be considered romantic, but I believe this journey will live in your memories forever.

Also, this is Arizona, so you will find some luxury places to stay and I believe you will also have plenty of ideas for hikes. This can be a very versatile trip.

5) Florida Keys, Florida

Observing sunsets at Key West is probably the most romantic thing you can do in this part of the US. Drive Highway 1 with its perfect infrastructure and enjoy wonderful weather all year round (but at times of storms and hurricanes, of course).

This is a perfect journey if you live in this area. Just quick access to a romantic road trip!

6) New Orleans, Louisiana

No super-famous attractions, no luxury spas, and no natural miracles here. But why do I still recommend this? Because this is something extraordinary for those who have already traveled all the common routes and want something new.

New Orleans offers traditional culture, cuisine, and hospitality that you will never find in other places in the US. Live jazz in a cheap-looking bar here will be something you won't ever forget.

7) The Oregon Coast

This route will probably be perfect for those who want ocean views and stay in coastal towns. This is romantic and you can make it even more romantic if you prepare your car and yourself for the trip.

Marine wildlife is also here to observe. This is probably the best place in the US to try whale watching. Why not try this?

8) Route 66

Want to drive the route that will take you back in time? Route 66 is probably the best option. It's great in terms of the originality and traditions of old road trips. But it also has proper infrastructure. It's maintained at the historical level but is filled with modern conveniences.

If you get pleasure from road trips, Route 66 will be one of your favorite journeys that you and your partner will remember for a long time.

9) Charleston, South Carolina

If you are in Charleston or near it, I offer you a romantic ride in your car through the historic district of the city. It has an absolutely different vibe from any other city in the US and you will obviously feel this when driving slowly and carefully.

Of course, I strongly recommend you plan the route and upload it into your navigation system to not get distracted at every corner.

10) The Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee, and North Carolina

Mountains without expensive spas and hotels. Cozy cabins in the mountains, wonderful untouched nature, and landscapes that will make you hold your breath - you will find this and more in this place.

This is going to be the car trip of your life if you adore nature and appreciate spending some time in the wild observing the beauty of our planet.

There are literally hundreds of destinations in the US that can be your great choices for St. Valentine's Day car trips. I just gave you 10 ideas - some of them are obvious, some are unexpected - but you can create some other route that will help you reach the goals you want.

Road trips can be romantic if they are well-planned and properly prepared. Please be safe and don't forget to get your car ready for this challenge!
