St. Valentine's is about to hit our wallets and this is the greatest time for romantic people. If you are planning a road trip on this day with your loved one, or maybe you will just be driving to a good restaurant through the entire city, I want to give you several safe driving tips that will help you feel secure and avoid unwanted road accidents on this wonderful day.

Here they are:

1) Don't rush

You shouldn't start your journey at the last minute - take some time to drive in a relaxed way and get some pleasure from your journey. A relaxed vibe is important for your romantic evening or day.

2) Plan the route before you leave

It's important to feel relaxed and be able to talk with your spouse or partner about some cool and funny things instead of making them search for the best route and consider bypassing traffic jams. So, plan the route before you start driving.

3) Be patient and avoid distractions

Your partner may be dressed so cool that your eyes will intend to switch from that annoying road to the St. Valentine's special outfit of your loved one. But be patient - you will have plenty more time for that. Now, it's important to drive safely, so make the choice to not be distracted.

4) Prepare some special music

When driving in a car, you are likely to listen to music. But annoying radio tracks won't set the mood for a romantic evening. It would be cool to prepare some music for the trip - some romantic tracks or maybe some songs that mean something to your partner and you. Also, keep the music at a low volume to create a peaceful and romantic atmosphere.

5) Please avoid any alcohol

Although it's a cool day for relaxing and drinking a glass of wine, avoid this if there is a chance you are going to drive later in the evening. Even if the glass of wine is legal where you live, please don't do that as it slows the reaction. You may get into trouble instead of driving home in the evening and having a wonderful time with your loved one.

6) Prepare the car technically

If this is a long journey that you are planning for St. Valentine's, make sure the vehicle is maintained, the oil is changed, the tires are checked, everything is running well and there are no error messages or warning lights on the dash. Also, fill the tank to avoid losing your time in a gas station.

7) Clean and lightly decorate the car

Of course, you will want to give your partner a ride in a clean car with a wonderful scent inside. You may consider having the car cleaned a day or two before the holiday, also you may want to buy a good air freshener.

Small decorations will be appreciated. But please don't buy anything that is hard to remove afterward.

8) Don't try to outperform yourself

Don't push yourself beyond your limits. If you feel tired, please change your plans. For example, if you plan to drive 300 miles to some other city, but at about halfway you feel tired and sleepy, better find a good hotel or motel and change your plans to have a romantic evening there. You are going to have more St. Valentine's Days unless you try pushing yourself beyond the limits.

9) Respect others on the road

One big mistake that destroys the holiday vibe is aggressive driving. Be careful and calm, let others overtake you if they need and predict the situations on the road to avoid any unpleasant situations.

The last thing you want to do is to get stuck on the road for several hours after some minor accident waiting for police to come.

10) Enjoy every mile

Remember, you are not just driving to some destination. You are having a fun time with the person you love. If you enjoy the journey, your partner will, too. For this, you may want to set the proper mood, prepare some stories to tell, and also remember - drive carefully and calmly.

11) Follow traffic rules

One of the last things you want to happen on St. Valentine's is an unpleasant talk with the police. If you are caught speeding or breaking some road rules, you will have to pay a fine and maybe get in trouble with your license. This will kill your day, so you better watch the road signs, especially if you are driving in an unfamiliar place.

12) Be positive

When you are relaxed, smiling, and overall positive, it's easy for you to set up the proper mood in the car. Your partner will quickly catch the vibe and you will get that wonderful romantic feeling that is impossible to get on any other day. Just be positive, smile, say some jokes, and you will feel that the atmosphere is changing!

I know that many people think that St. Valentine's is a purely commercial holiday and it's not worth celebrating it at all. But with this dark emotion, you are setting yourself in a bad mood. While you can turn this day into a wonderful tradition for your couple and get some great experience, you may also sit on the couch with a can of beer and watch some primitive TV show not getting any emotions at all.

So, such days can bring you joy and add some romantic feelings to your relationship. Use it and remember about my 12 tips for safe driving at St. Valentine's!
