Acura cars are quite technological and modern in all terms. They are filled up with up-to-date technologies that control every inch of the vehicle and every mile of your driving. But still, the car has a common problem that is discussed in forums and car blogs. We've decided to give our view of what you can do with a battery drain problem in your RLX.
Today, we'll be talking about battery problems in Acura RLX.

Battery charging problems - some tips
One day you may notice that your engine stutters a little before starting. It may be a second or two. After some time, the stuttering gets longer. This means that the battery loses its charge and will eventually fail to start the engine. It's not hard to predict that push starting or any other old-school ways to start your RLX will not work, so you may get into trouble.
Here are some things you should know about battery charging problems:
- these issues are common for the RLX, although your dealer will not tell you this;
- the alternator issues are also common, and you should start the investigation from this unit;
- sometimes, owners report wiring issues like poor connection or just broken wires between alternator and battery;
- also, battery charging problems may occur because of a dead battery that was fully discharged because of something.
Usually, you will see the error notification on your screen. The MID system will react to bad battery charging and will help you do something before the car is completely dead.
But a lot of RLX owners reported seeing no error messages on their dashboards. So, the notification system is not that great and it can overlook these problems.
Also, the battery charging problems may be accompanied by different fault codes. For example, you can see a fault code connected to airbags. We don't know why, but many cars have this connection which is hard to explain.
Electricity drains in your Acura RLX
Battery drains are suspiciously common for the Acura RLX. So, let's imagine, you checked all possible problems with charging and you know that the battery gets decent charging, best voltage sends no fault codes. But still, your car starts with problems, especially after it stands in the garage for 5-10 days.
Why is that? Because you probably have the battery drain. So, the electricity is used for something while the car isn't working. What can it be? We have a couple of options:
- multimedia system - it may work even if the driver is out of the car, so it may have been left working when you were in the cat last time;
- additional equipment - for example, you may have installed a more efficient subwoofer and it somehow drains the battery;
- the alarm system - it works continuously once the car is closed and if it faces any dangers, it will drain your battery quite fast;
- forgotten light in the interior - well, it's hard to forget to turn off some lights, but still, you need to check that;
- some problems with the wiring or the equipment connected to the battery.
Unfortunately, you can't diagnose your vehicle without any special equipment. The best choice is to go to the dealer. They have special diagnostics equipment that is designed for Acura vehicles and they can easily find the drain.
We think there is some problem with the RLX battery. It may drain some electricity because of a faulty battery sensor or some other system. Because otherwise, we fail to explain the big number of complaints about the battery drain.
Final words
Actually, Acura cars are quite long-lasting and reliable. But sometimes, you will need to spend some time and money on them. Battery problems with the RLX are suspiciously common. No other Acura vehicles have so many complaints about how the electricity system works. But, in most cases, Acura dealers manage to find the problem and deal with it. You are lucky if you notice this problem before the warranty is over.
