Are Oil Leaks From Engine Head Gasket Possible?

Engine head gasket usually causes problems because of inner leaks, but sometimes the gasket can leak externally and warn the car owner about the leak of oil. Usually, the external leaks from the engine head gasket are seen in boxer engines. But still, if the gasket is broken, the oil and antifreeze mix to form a very bad mixture for engine.

Oil Leaks 222

Once you realize that the head gasket is blown, there is no way you should continue driving. Stop the engine and look for roadside assistance or for tow truck to tow your vehicle to the service station.

External leaks are not so good, because the engine loses oil and can break any minute. But internal leaks are much worse because they create bad conditions for engine and shorten its lifetime.

To change the gasket isn't that simple, so you'll need to pay for this. The mixture of oil and antifreeze forms kind of foam that doesn't lubricate the engine in the needed way. And this will become a big problem for the engine. Also, the leaks causes troubles with engine cooling system. That's why you shouldn't wait for a long time before contacting your service station if you suspect the blown gasket.
