Jeep Uconnect is something that drives the owners crazy. They are all there on specialized forums and blogs trying to figure out how the heck they make this infotainment system obey them. And it’s not that easy, we would say.
So if you want to stop your Jeep vehicle from reading your text messages and saying you got some more, we are here to help you. Just follow the simple instruction in the article.
Let’s get started!
Instruction: turning off the message notifications in Uconnect
- Go through settings on your Uconnect and make sure that the text message notifications are off (and it still bothers you with those notifications, though).
- Press the phone button on your Uconnect and when the voice starts saying the options you have, say “Incoming message announcement settings”. If the Uconnect says that it’s on and will ask if you want to disable it, say “Yes”. Though, you will still find it working somehow.
- Disconnect your phone from the Uconnect completely so that you need to re-connect it again from scratch.
- When connecting your phone once again, read carefully the instructions and permissions. Once you see the permission to connect to your messages, say “No” instead of “Yes”.
- That’s it. Your phone will be connected, but you won’t get bothered anymore when you get the message.
Why is Uconnect so hard to set?
You should ask this question directly from Jeep company. What we know, Uconnect is a system that has been developed for a lot of years, but it’s still far from perfection. Many drivers can’t deal with it and set it correctly.
When you give all the permissions to your Uconnect system, it takes over all your messages, phone calls, notifications, etc. So sometimes when you drive your car, you feel like you are still in the office. The most annoying part is when you want to listen to the music and relax. And every other time you get some message, Uconnect stops playing the music sharply and sends you a notification which is quite long and annoying.
Some people solve it just by turning off Bluetooth on their phones, but some of us use our phones to store some music, so it’s impossible to turn off Bluetooth and still listen to some music from your phone.
We believe, Jeep Company should have worked harder with these settings to let the car buyers know how to deal with the settings they want to make.
Final words
So, now you know all possible ways how to turn off those annoying notifications about text messages in your Jeep vehicle or any other car that has the Uconnect infotainment system in it. If you still have some problems, you may have a faulty system and you will need to ask some questions in your dealership or in a service station.
