Hyundai Palisade is one of the most luxurious SUVs by Hyundai company in the US. This vehicle is quite good in terms of price to quality ratio. But owners still always want to change something and to add some features to their cars to make them unique and more functional or more beautiful, for example.
Today, we'll be speaking about Hyundai Palisade mods. These are the changes to your car that you will want to make. Well, we should agree with the thought that the Palisade is not a bad vehicle and it has a lot of wonderful features, especially in the most expensive trims. But the market will offer you even more for changing your Hyundai.
Here's what we are going to talk about today:
- Hyundai Palisade - what kind of a car do you get?
- The most popular visual mods for Hyundai Palisade.
- Functional mods - what would you like to change?
- Technical mods for Hyundai Palisade - worth the money?
Let's get started!
What do you get when you buy a 2022 Hyundai Palisade?
Hyundai Palisade is a big SUV that offers quite a modern design, a huge space inside. This is a family vehicle. The world first saw the Palisade in 2021 and in 2023 it's going to get a facelift. This vehicle is one of the favorite family SUVs among Americans. It was initially made for the US, but now the company is considering selling it in many other countries around the world.
The vehicle starts at $36,300 which is not bad at all for a big SUV. But you will want a better trim. Most Americans prefer SEL trim for $37,000 - only one thousand more expensive than the base trim, but it has a lot of additional features. The best trims are called Limited and Calligraphy, they cost almost $50,000 and seem to be quite expensive.
Here are some facts about the Palisade you should know:
- Three rows inside. The vehicle offers three rows of seats which is a great option for a big family. Also, every single seat is quite comfortable.
- Wonderful features. The most expensive trims will offer an unbelievable range of features for owners. You will get even more than you can think of.
- High ride quality. Hyundai has always made cars with average ride quality. But the Palisade is the vehicle that you will want to drive. It's made for long comfortable journeys.
- The heart of the car is the 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine that offers 291 horsepower. The 8-speed automatic transmission comes standard. Also, FWD comes standard, but you may order any trim with AWD, too.
- A lot of driving aids like collision mitigation, parking sensor, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, etc. come standard starting with SE trim - you will not need to pay extra for them.
The second-row seat comes standard as a bench. But in the Limited and Calligraphy trims it comes as captain seats. So, the cheaper trims come with a seating capacity of 8 people while the more expensive ones offer seating for 7 people.
This vehicle looks really nice. It has a lot of technologies, especially in Calligraphy trim which is a masterpiece. But if you are a driver who wants to make the car unique and incomparable with other vehicles, you will still think about mods. Now let's talk about what you can change in your Palisade.
Visual mods for your Hyundai Palisade
We'll start with some visual changes that will make your Hyundai even more beautiful and will add some cool features. This will not always require big investments, but in most cases, high-quality accessories will cost a lot.
Here's what we offer:
- Taillights from Calligraphy. Actually, standard tail lights don't look very nice. You will want to change that by adding tail lights from Palisade Limited or Calligraphy. Fortunately, it will not require major changes in wiring. You will only need the taillights.
- Blackout. We don't know why, but a lot of owners prefer to blackout their Hyundai Palisades. They wrap all chrome parts in black, paint their wheels black, and delete all chrome. This makes the vehicle look even better.
- Alternative grille. Want an even better look? Just buy an alternative grille for your Hyundai Palisade. A lot of companies now offer alternative designs of a grille which is thought to be the worst spot in the design of the vehicle.
- LED headlights. The top trims of the Palisade will offer beautiful LED headlights with really nice daylight and other features. They are not only beautiful but also very functional. And you will not need to rebuild the wiring - just buy the new headlights.
- Quad exhaust. This means that after completing the modification you will see four exhaust pipes in the rear end of your vehicle. This looks nice but it requires some work and doesn't change the functions of your car at all.
- Other dress-up items. Koreans are fond of visual changes for their cars. That's why you can find a lot of options in Korea, buy them and get them delivered to the US. This will make your Palisade unique in many terms.
As you see, there are a lot of visual mods you can do to your Palisade without even spending a lot of money. Well, some mods will be cheaper while others will cost you a fortune. For example, OEM headlights and tail lights will not be cheap at all. But you can try to find used ones because some of these vehicles are already on the salvage auctions and some of them get to scrapyards.
Functional mods you will love
Here we'll just name some mods that are good for both visual and functional changes to your vehicle. It's not only about the design but also about the comfort of using your car.
And here's what we've found:
- Retractable running board. This board will actually make your car look much better, but it will also play a functional role. Driver and passengers will have an option to step on it to get into the car.
- Fog lights. You will be able to install fog lights and even use them as daylights. This will boost the ability of your vehicle to give you more light on the road.
- Interior mods. We will not be very specific because interior modifications can be made with hundreds of accessories you can buy online. Just buy what you want to buy.
OK, so you will have a lot of options for functional mods. This means you will have the opportunity to make your vehicle even more interesting in terms of functionality and comfort.
Technical mods - want to change anything?
So, the Palisade has a decent V6 engine. It's not very powerful if you compare it with other cars in this class, but it's still OK. We would say, it's a perfect combination of power and optimal gas mileage. And yes, you can modify the engine to give more power just by applying Stage 1 tuning but we don't recommend that.
Here are the reasons why you shouldn't apply engine tuning:
- the additional power will not be really worth it - you will get up to 10% or around 25 horsepower;
- the higher torque is a good thing, but it will destroy your automatic transmission which is very expensive to repair;
- you will void the warranty which is the bad news because you may desperately need the warranty coverage one day;
- the engine will probably lose its longevity - up to 30% of potential mileage can be lost because of tuning.
If you choose the Stage 2 or Stage 3 tuning, you will get even more power and torque. But in this case, the transmission will get damaged sooner and you will have to spend a lot of money for replacing it. Also, your vehicle's suspension and braking system aren't set to withstand more power than your car already has.
That's why we don't recommend any mods that touch the technical part of your Palisade. At least when your car is in the warranty period, it's a bad idea to modify something like the ECU or whatever. Hyundai cars aren't made for sport, in most cases. They are very good for everyday driving, but in the sports mode, they will show all their problems quickly.
Final words
If you think that a Palisade is not very good the way it comes from the manufacturer, you can choose some mods. They will be visual, functional, and also technical. Applying technical modifications is a risky business because you can lose your warranty and also damage the most expensive parts of your vehicle.
But you can apply visual mods to make your Palisade look even better. This is a good car for families, though. And many drivers will not want a lot of changes because it actually looks good. So, it's all about your choice and your ideas of what a good SUV should look like.
