Is A Mustang GT V6 Or V8? Finding The Difference

Mustang GT is always equipped with a V8 engine. The GT version is actually one of the most powerful production models of the Ford Mustang and it always comes with the most wonderful engine that has 8 cylinders which is a rare thing in the current automotive market. And if you want to compare it with the 2.3 EcoBoost, you shouldn't even start.

The GT model is not the vehicle for everyone. It's designed for special people who love speed and who care about the image they create with their accessories including cars. Yes, visually the Mustang GT doesn't differ much from a cheaper version, but as soon as you start your engine, everyone understands what kind of car you have.

What does a Mustang GT offer?

The GT model offers a 5-liter V8 engine with 450 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with a manual transmission but most buyers will opt to pay more for a 10-speed automatic transmission.

If you pay for a GT version of the latest Mustang, you may want to pay even slightly more to get the GT Premium version which comes with larger wheels, wonderful Brembo brakes, a great all-wheel-drive system, and also other cool features that you don't get in cheaper versions.

OK, if you have even more money, you can buy a California Special package to improve some options and some design features. Want even more? Go for Mach 1 version which is the most expensive Mustang you can now get.

The prices differ much. The cheapest EcoBoost version is over $28,000, while the cheapest GT version costs over $37,000. You will need to add around $5,000 to improve to GT Premium. But the richest buyers will want to pay around $55,000 for Mustang Mach 1 which is the best equipped Mustang of all times.

Why is V8 Mustang better than 2.3 Ecoboost?

The EcoBoost engine is something not suitable for your Mustang. Well, if you have this car and you have never driven Mustang GT, it will be quite good. It's powerful, it has decent torque, and just wonderful gas mileage. But if you compare the emotions you get from a GT, you will just sell your Mustang EcoBoost the same day.

GT has a naturally aspired engine with 5 liters of capacity which is a really rare thing now. These engines have proven to be extremely reliable. Some older Mustangs with V8 engines show 250 000 or 300 000 miles on the clock, and they are still OK! And you can imagine that these cars aren't only driven by old fellows to supermarket and back. They are made for sports driving and most of them experience sports driving every single day.

The Mustang GT is the beast you will fall in love with once you test-drive it. It may have only one drawback and it's about the gas mileage. You should consider around 15 MPG on average and even worse if you only drive in the city traffic. The 5 liters of this engine just can't take less fuel.

Final words

In conclusion, we want to say that all Mustang GTs are V8 cars and it hasn't been changed for decades. But unfortunately, Ford will have to make bad decisions in the nearest future. The emission problem leads to shortening engine capacity and adding turbochargers to reduce fuel consumption and achieve better ecological features of a car. That's why those 5-liter V8 engines are dinosaurs in the automotive industry today and they will have to move to history and let their smaller turbo fellows take their place.

So, it's quite possible that the next Mustang GT will have a 4-cylinder engine with immense turbochargers or something.
