Lamborghini Windshield Cost. How Much Is To Change The Windshield?

Many people think that if you own a Lamborghini sportscar, you will not care much about the maintenance costs and prices for parts. But no one will volunteer to give away $10K just because the manufacturer thinks it's a fair price for parts and labor. Don't like this? Try getting your Lambo to one of the local garages or repair shops. They will not even be able to take off a wheel!

The average price of owning a Lamborghini is around $7000 a year. This is a price for maintenance, tire change, essential parts, and labor. And it doesn't change much if you don't drive your vehicle every day. But if you drive it more often than average, you are likely to spend up to $15,000 yearly just for maintenance service! So this vehicle is not for everyone.

Here's what we are going to talk about today:

  1. How much is to replace a windshield in Lamborghini?
  2. Who can do the work to replace the windshield?
  3. Why windshields are popular parts for Lambo cars?
  4. Can you find an aftermarket alternative for your Lamborghini?
  5. What problems can you face if you want to replace a windshield?

Let's get started!

Lamborghini windshield - prices for parts and labor

The United States is the top market for Lambo cars. Over 2000 vehicles are delivered here a year, so the country has at least some infrastructure for the owners of these vehicles. Lamborghini cars are insanely expensive, so only really rich people can afford to buy them.

If you happen to damage the windshield in your Lambo car, your mood will highly depend on the model. For example, the new Urus windshield you can find in America. But if you have, say, a classic Gallardo, your windshield will likely be delivered from Italy. After it is produced on the factory there.

The price will be formed from these factors:

  1. The price of the windshield. Again, the Urus windshield is not that expensive (relatively) and it can be $2500, on average. But the windshield for an older model may cost up to $7000. The average price will be anywhere between $3500 and $4500.
  2. Then, the delivery price. You know, it's not that cheap to ship goods from Italy to the US. So if the windshield for your vehicle cannot be found in the US, the dealer will order production in Italy. The shipping will add another $1000 and also months of waiting.
  3. Labor. If you think that Lamborghini dealers are glad to help you for free, you are wrong. They will take at least $1000 for labor to install the new windshield. In some vehicles, it will be even more expensive.

When installing the windshield to your vehicle, they will use extremely expensive methods and materials. The procedure will take at least 2 days. That's why the price will not be cheap. Now you know that you will spend at least $3500 to replace the windshield in your Lamborghini car. But can you do it cheaper? Can you find some other dealers? Can you find some way out of the situation? Let's discuss.

Cheaper parts for your Lamborghini?

Lamborghini is not a mass-production car. These vehicles are made only in Italy, and the parts for these cars are also made in Italy. This means that to bring a part to the US, you will need to pay a lot of taxes, shipping costs, etc. Also, a lot of parts are made in Italy in small production workshops. Sometimes, Lamborghini uses parts that are made manually with little to no automatization.

These factors make the parts for Lamborghini go up in price every single year. It doesn't matter much if you have a 2022 Lambo or a 1995 sports car. You will pay basically the same price for parts. The good news - even if your Lamborghini was made in the 1970s, you still can order some parts for the car. Bad news, a simple part like a suspension unit will cost you just like an average Chevrolet vehicle.

And you just can't find any alternatives. Here are the reasons why:

  • no other companies produce parts for Lamborghini;
  • you will not even find Chinese cheap alternatives online;
  • cars are extremely rare, some models are now unique;
  • Lamborghini earns not that much on cars, but they earn a lot on parts;
  • Italian goods are always very expensive in the US.

As you see, if your Lamborghini is broken, for example, the windshield is cracked, you will have no choice but buy the expensive parts and use the extremely expensive service of the dealer. Otherwise, you will keep using your car with a cracked windshield which may be a road offense in some states.

In most cases, you will not find parts in the US, so you will have to wait at least 2 or 3 months until the windshield is delivered from Europe. Well, if you have a Lamborghini car, you should buy some other vehicle just to drive it while you are waiting for parts from Italy.

How can you avoid insane expenses?

Insurance. This is the only way to save you from the burden of paying so much for the windshield and probably all other problems. But be careful when you choose an insurance plan. The cheapest insurance (which will still be very expensive for a Lamborghini owner) will not cover basically anything. The windshield will be covered in more expensive plans offered by your insurance company.

If you have windshield coverage, you should do the following:

  • call your insurance company as soon as you noticed the crack r any other damage on your windshield;
  • take pictures and send them to your insurance agent to document the issues properly;
  • arrange the meeting with your insurance agent so that he or she could see the damage and take pictures;
  • wait until they finish their investigation and decide on the coverage;
  • let the insurance company deal with the cracked windshield for you or just take the money and deal with it by yourself.

The procedure may be different depending on your insurance company policies. But the main thing is that you will have your windshield covered and will not have to pay over $5000 to replace the broken windshield. Think it will not happen? Just read the reviews in forums where people say how happy they are that they had their windshield covered in their insurance.

What if you don't have the proper insurance?

If your car insurance only covers some minor damages or doesn't cover anything at all, you will have to pay for the windshield from your own picket. This is not good but considering you found some money for a Lamborghini car, your budget shouldn't be empty. Also, you may ask for a loan or something to cover the costs.

One more bad thing is that you will have to arrange everything by yourself. Your insurance company will not try to find the parts and materials, contact the dealers, etc.

Here's what you will need to do:

  1. Contact the dealer. Ask whether they can find a windshield for your model of Lamborghini. You should know one or two dealers because servicing a Lambo car is a very specialized business and you can only do it in a dealer's repair shop.
  2. After that talk about the price. Your dealer will likely set the highest price before, so you may try to bargain a little to make it lower or at least to avoid any changes in the price offer.
  3. After that, you will have to deliver the vehicle to the service station. Sometimes the crack is so big that driving your car will be illegal. You may hire a tow truck to tow your Lambo to the service station.
  4. Then, prepare to wait. If the windshield can be found in the US, they will get it within one or two weeks. Otherwise, you will need to wait for at least two months before it arrives from Europe.
  5. Then pay the bill and get your car from the service station. And be careful to not damage the windshield again.

To reduce the price a little, you can try to find a used windshield. Sometimes Lambos get damaged and go to salvage auctions. Some of them are damaged from behind and they are bough by scrapyards that take the cars apart and sell used parts. The used windshield may cost $1500 or a little more. This is three times cheaper than a new part.

Final words

We love Lamborghini cars but they are extremely expensive to maintain. If you have one, you better think twice when you choose the insurance policy coverage. Pay more to your insurance company to not get a surprise when you take the bill from a Lambo dealer. A broken windshield will highly likely make your Lamborghini illegal on the road. So you will have no choice but pay over $5000 for replacing the part.
