One of its pride and joy is the 3.5L V6 engine it uses, which holds Toyota's signature quality and reliability. In this article, we will explore the best and the worst out of this powerplant to help you determine whether or not it is the best value for your money.

2010-2015 Lexus RX 3.5L V6 Engine Key Specs

The 2010-2015 Lexus RX is equipped with a 3.5L (3,456cc) V6 engine, designated as the 2GR-FE, featuring a dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) possessing four valves per cylinder and all-aluminum block and head. The use of six-cylinder arranged in a "V" formation puts more power on the unit while allowing the torque to peak at lower rotations per minute (RPM) compared to its turbocharged four-cylinder counterparts. This is due to the presence of more air in the piston, which greatly helps make the most out of the combustion process.

Meanwhile, the DOHC configuration supplements the flow of air and efficiency by having less obstruction that's why it is considered to be more dominant than other designs such as the overhead valve (OHV) and single overhead camshaft (SOHC). Each cylinder has two camshafts that control four valves, with one camshaft controlling the intake and exhaust valves separately. Variable valve timing and lift are simpler to implement for increased fuel efficiency and power with this design.

If the battery seems to be fine, then the next step is to check the starter motor. The starter motor turns over the engine. If it is not working, then the engine will not start. There are a few other things that can cause the engine to not start. These can be due to issues in the ignition switch, electronic ignition, and distributor or rotor.

These are further complemented by the wide array of premium elements present in the SUV's interior plus the comfortable ride quality provided by its stable and compliant suspension.

Lastly, the prevalence of the problems in the 3.5L V6 is quite low compared to other alternatives. As shown here, they are repairable as long as they are caught early on. Likewise, knowing that there are a lot of replacement parts for Toyota and Lexus, these should not come as a serious hassle on your part.
