Modifying your vehicle is not that easy and not cheap at all. Before you set to do this, please make sure you are OK with spending thousands of dollars. Because once you start, you have no chance to stop. This thing will captivate you and make you spend more and more on your way to perfection. But the perfection never comes, as you know.

Today, we'll be speaking about Nissan Juke mods. How can you may your Juke better? What can you install and how can you change the way your Nissan goes? It's not easy at all because every Juke owner will want some special results from modifications in his or her car. But we'll try to speak about all possible mods.

Nissan Juke mods

Here's what we'll be talking about:

  1. Nissan Juke visual mods - what will you want to add?
  2. Technical modifications for your Nissan Juke.
  3. Why can modifying your Nissan be a bad idea?
  4. How much will you spend on Nissan Juke modifications?

Let's get started!

Visual modifications - cool things to add

We know that most people care how their car looks. When you compare your vehicle with other cars on the road, you start feeling good or bad depending on whether you like this comparison or not. Nissan Juke of the first generation is not the freshest car. But it actually looks nice, you just need some additional features to make it look more up-to-date.

It's not hard at all - you will just need to find some accessories that you love. What we like about visual tuning - you can do it step by step without spending thousands at once. And you can choose the accessories that you love. You can predict what your vehicle will look like in the end.

Here are some ideas for your Nissan Juke:

  1. New wheels. You can choose some cool original wheels that cost a fortune, or you can just shop for some aftermarket light-alloy wheels that will still be very good for your Nissan.
  2. Roof spoiler. This is a small part that adds some sport to the appearance of your vehicle. It can be black or you can paint it the color of your car. It depends mainly on your wishes.
  3. Bumper finishers. Actually, Nissan has some original finishers in different colors - blue, red, etc. But you can also shop for finishers made by different companies that will cost you much cheaper.
  4. Mirror covers. For example, your red Juke will look marvelous with black bumper finishers, side finishers, and also black mirror covers. These parts will add black stylish elements to the exterior of your Nissan.
  5. Mudguards. These parts will not only protect the bottom part of your vehicle from stones and mud, but they will also make your Juke look more serious - just like an SUV should look.
  6. Styling elements inside your vehicle. You can buy a lot of finishers, inserts, and also comfort elements for your vehicle. They may be both original and non-original, but better buy only high-quality things.
  7. Nismo accessories. You can turn your Nissan Juke into a Juke Nismo just by buying the accessories that you like. It will not be very expensive, but it will make your Nissan look much cooler and unique.

Also, you can pay attention to a lot of additional comfort elements. For example, a good headrest will be a good purchase. Then, you can get additional electronics for parking. Just visit a Nissan online shop and see what the manufacturer offers. We don't recommend you buy these things right away because in the official shop they cost so much that they seem to be made of gold.

You may try and search for some alternatives made by other companies. Sometimes, these alternatives are three or four times cheaper and they are still of good quality. It means they can make your Juke look great without making your pockets empty. And yes, a Juke can look much better with these options.

Technical modifications for your Nissan Juke

Making your Nissan look better is a cool thing. But does it make sense if your Juke will still go slowly? We believe every Nissan owner wants the Juke to go faster. This small SUV has a fresh and sporty design, but most of the versions are slow as snails.

The majority of the Jukes are powered by 1.5 and 1.6 naturally aspirated engines. They are slow as hell. Then, there is a 1.6 turbo version which is still not fast enough. And only one version of Juke R is not bad - it's powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. But the price of this version was so high that only dozens of them were sold in the US.

The second generation appeared to be even worse. The only gasoline version uses a 1.0-turbo engine which is ridiculous. And then, there is a hybrid version with a 1.5 gasoline engine and an electric engine. Talking about 2-gen Nissan Juke mods doesn't make sense - what can you modify here?

So, about the first-gen Juke, here's what the mod industry can offer to you:

  1. Turbochargers for the naturally aspirated engines. This is not a bad idea if you don't care about how long your Juke will last. Turbochargers will kill your engine fast but they will make your vehicle fun to drive.
  2. Engine tuning. You may know that by tuning the ECU you can get more power and torque. Yes, it works with the Juke, but you should be careful because the longevity may go down, especially with the XTronic CVT or the dual-clutch transmission.
  3. Stage 2 tuning. You can use stage 2 which is something between just an ECU tuning and turbocharging. It will not be that expensive, but it can still not be very effective.
  4. Exhaust replacement. If you want to get more power, think about the new exhaust. You will also need to replace the intake manifold to let more air come into the combustion chamber and create more pressure.
  5. Suspension tuning. Unfortunately, the stock Juke suspension (unless you own the R-version) is very soft and unstable. It's made for comfortable driving, not for sport. That's why you may want to tune the suspension and install the Juke-R shock absorbers, springs, etc.

This is a steep way of spending a lot of money. Sometimes, it will be cheaper to just sell your simple Juke version and to buy the Juke R with the 3.8-liter V6 engine. But if you want a project car to spend your time on, then why not spend some money on this?

The Nissan Juke is not a bad car to tune. But we should warn you that the budget of this project is very hard to predict. You may want to just tune the ECU, but it's pretty hard to stop after you start doing this. Then, you will want to install some new exhaust parts, then the turbochargers, and so on. You will stop when you run out of money.

What problems can you get after tuning your Nissan Juke?

You may know that Nissan Juke is not the most reliable and long-lasting vehicle in the world. But when you start modifying it to get even more horsepower and torque, the vehicle appears to be even less reliable than it initially was. If you own, let's say, a Mercedes-Benz, you will not feel this sharp fall in longevity. But with a Nissan, you will.

Here's what can suffer from your actions:

  • the transmission - your CVT transmission is set to withstand some torque and it won't work for a long time if torque is improved much;
  • the engine - unfortunately, all Nissan engines that were used in Juke are thought to be less reliable than average and you can kill them with mods;
  • electronics - again, the Juke is not the most reliable vehicle and the electronics can fail even without mods, but after you change something, the chances of problems go up;
  • suspension and brakes - everything in your car is tuned for a certain amount of torque and power, once you change something, everything can break.

You should be careful with modifying your Nissan Juke. This car isn't made for sports unless you have a chance to buy the R version. We don't recommend any mods that change the torque and power sharply. Otherwise, you may just get problems and start visiting the repair shop regularly.

Final words

Nissan Juke is a cool car but not very reliable. And you can feel this right after you modify the vehicle. Don't like how your 1.6 Juke goes? Just sell it and buy another Juke with a better engine. The better engine is the only option called Juke R 3.8 V6.

If you still want to modify your Juke and make it a sports car, you can invest a lot of money and spend a lot of time for achieving your goal.
