Electrification is one of the hottest topics in the passenger car industry. All prominent brands are now announcing that they will complete the transition to EVs within the next 5 to 10 years and this now doesn't seem as futuristic and unreal as it seemed just two years ago. But it's not practical and convenient to charge your new EV using just a simple home socket. It takes forever to get your vehicle charged.
So, you will want a proper home charger installed in your house or garage. Today, we'll tell you about Qmerit company and their prices. We'll also tell you why you will love and hate what they will do for you. The article is not an advertisement like everything we write in our blog. This is a fair review with the proper delivery of both the good and bad sides of how the company performs.

Here's what exactly we'll tell you:
- How much will Qmerit charge you for EV charger installation?
- Will you be happy with the quality of Qmerit's work?
- What are some disadvantages of Qmerit in EV charger installation?
- Can you buy chargers from Qmerit?
Let's get started!
How much money does Qmerit take for their work?
The major business niche of Qmerit is EV chargers installation. This is what they may do professionally. Of course, for this, they need to know and do many other things like communicating with energy-supplying companies, reorganizing your home grid, doing some decoration work after the installation is finished, etc. But their primary sphere of expertise is EV charging systems.
In terms of prices, we can have a look at several different sources and find out the actual average:
- We looked at the Qmerit website and found the information on average pricing for their job which is stated as $800 to $2000 depending on the task.
- We called Qmerit and asked how much it costs, on average, to install an EV charger in a garage and they said this would cost us about $1,200 if no complications will arise during their work. Pretty foxy explanation of their price policy, we should say.
- We went to forums and found out that some people actually paid about $1,000 for installation while most Qmerit clients say that the eventual bill was close to $1,600. Actually, the website correctly stated the price range.
- The installation price doesn't include the charger itself - you will have to buy it somewhere or also order it from Qmerit.
- Also, you will have to pay $149 when you want to schedule the installation. This deposit will then be excluded from your eventual bill.
So, if you want to have the EV charger installed for under $1,000, you should be lucky enough to have no complications. Otherwise, the installation cost with Qmerit is likely to be about $1,600. At least, this is what people say in numerous forums and we don't see any reason why we shouldn't believe them.
Also, if you are just calling Qmerit and asking them how much it costs to install the EV charger, you should understand that they will tell you the lowest possible price. It's highly unlikely that they will actually install the charger for this money. You will have to pay more, so keep it in mind when scheduling the installation and have a couple hundred to cover those "complications".
What can influence the price of EV charger installation with Qmerit?
The installation price includes only the installation of the charger that you provide your installer with. If you need a charger, that will cost you more money. If your electrical panel needs some upgrades, this will also cost you more money. The good thing is that Qmerit installers have everything needed to prepare the home grid for charging your vehicle. So, the installer will most likely do the job in just one day.
Also, you may need to pay more if you want some special place for EV charger installation that requires a lot of work to do. For example, your charger will be placed in a garage where you have no electrical cables or sockets at all. This will require some more work and the installer will spend more time at your place.
One more example is when your house has low power from the provider and some paperwork needs to be done before you get the needed power. In most cases, Qmerit will be able to assist you with all steps that are needed to get your charger properly working. But solving some problems by yourself will obviously cost you less money in the end.
Is the work of Qmerit OK in terms of quality?
We haven't found a single bad review about Qmerit. The worst things people said were connected to the prices, schedules, unresponsive installers, or problems with payments. But the quality of work has never been questioned. At least, in those reviews that we've read when preparing to write this article.
We've also seen Qmerit's work and can say that everything was done professionally and there was nothing we could say about the quality. We've spoken to several people who used Qmerit as their installers and they were happy with the results and only unhappy with the price.
Anyway, when it comes to the electrical grid in your house, you should think about the quality first. Improper installation of car chargers has been the reason for several fires all around the country. Also, your EV may suffer if the charger is improperly installed or connected.
What are some disadvantages of Qmerit EV charger installation?
We see several disadvantages in Qmerit that you will experience if you choose this company as your EV charger installer. Although there are also some advantages, the downsides are usually more noticeable and need explanation.
So, here's what we could come up with:
- The Price. You can clearly find some cheaper companies that will also do the job well and install your EV charger twice cheaper. This is risky but not impossible.
- They don't fully control contractors. Qmerit works all around the US and cooperates with contractors. Sometimes, those contractors can do the job cheaper if contacted directly. Also, Qmerit doesn't totally control the electricians that come to your house.
- They take deposits. Although deposits are fully refundable, people don't like paying until they see some work done or at least speak to a person who will do the job. So, we think it's a big disadvantage.
- The warranty may not work for you. We've seen several reports about the warranty. Qmerit will try to take money for any repairs from you and only agree to use the warranty if their mistake is obvious and hard to deny.
- Lots of money for a simple job. If you need to obtain some permits from your local authority or in your condo house, you better do it by yourself. Qmerit can help with this but they will charge you hundreds of dollars for something that costs nothing.
- When questions arise, they will send you to the installer. If you call Qmerit to ask something about the schedule, permits, or other features, they will redirect you to the local installer who may not know all the things you want to understand.
So, Qmerit is not perfect for installing your EV charger. But we should say that the company is pretty decent and offers a good set of services. In most cases, you need to just call them and pay a deposit and you will have your EV charger installed in just several days. It means you will not bother yourself with all those hard-to-understand questions and will let the professionals do the job for you.
Can you buy a charger from Qmerit?
Yes, they have a section called "Shop" on their website and you can buy one of two types of chargers there. We couldn't get the prices for them because they come with some discount for people who order Qmerit installation services. And the operator just couldn't tell us the price on the phone. So, we don't know if they are actually worth buying in Qmerit.
We believe the prices for chargers in Qmerit are higher than in other shops and online stores. Selling chargers is certainly not the main business for this company and they may want to earn more.
We would buy a charger anywhere else and would save up some money. But when it comes to EV charger installation, we can't say we would go to a local company and risk our safety. Qmerit seems like a decent choice even though this is certainly not the cheapest EV charger installer you may find out there.
Final thoughts
To sum up, Qmerit looks like a good EV charger installer. The company works all around the US and offers high-quality services and also helps with all the steps you need to make to have a legal and safe electric vehicle charger in your home. But if you want a cheap installation, this is certainly not the company to cooperate with.
