To improve the conditions of your car working you might use thousands of instruments. The engine should give as much power as it can. And in this sphere one of the most important ways is optimal tuning of the motor which can give some plus in horsepower, show some more efficient work of engine. But remember that the tuning has to be clever.

If you visit some service depot and try to ask for ways of power boost, you'll get the answer. But it'll cost you thousands of dollars to make it right. The power boost, original sound of the engine, possibility to control the power and fuel consumption figures: these are only some of the pros you get with a simple construction which works on well-known principles. What is the idea of QTP cutout work?

Quick Time Performance is popular and wonderfully checked theory for inner combustion engines. Originally these options are made to serve only for gasoline motors, but actually they are successfully installed in any other engines. It works with the idea that today's exhaust system doesn't work well for power maximization. It works for nature protection and minimizing the sounds from your car. QTP technologies work as follows:

  • you install the cutout system which is presented by Y-shaped metal tube, into your vehicle's exhaust system;
  • it's installed before all resonators and sound shortening modules for ensuring optimal work with your motor;
  • then you close the main pipe and get the air flow to the short exhaust way which is formed by a side pipe;
  • this shortens the engine pressure and allows the motor to work more efficiently which can be felt at once;
  • on average, users get up to 15% more horsepower of their cars with no other changing and reformations under the hood;
  • the construction of QTP cutouts doesn't disturb the engine but it usually gives you absolutely different sounds.

This is how the option works. But actually there are loads of types and variants of such thing in the market. You may get whatever you want just by creating the list of pluses and minuses with every technology. Today we'll speak a little about the most popular decisions, options and possibilities. Of course one can't buy such thing for a car without thinking of any possible results of installing the things into the car's exhaust system.

What can be the problems after using QTP cutout?

Speaking about troubles I can get some points to talk about. First thing is installation. It needs to be welded into your vehicle's exhaust system. And actually there aren't any troubles with that if you do it in normal car service. But having done that with your own hands and with no professional equipment, you'll get rusting pipe and lots of problems after that.

Another thing which springs to my mind is the quality of things you buy. There are some quite cheap options in the market which seem to be optimal just in appearance. When you start welding them to your car, they may show their real quality. And also the damper might not work properly in such equipment.

And the last minus I would bring up here is also well-known. You may spoil the exhaust pipe which costs quite a lot. So, I don't recommend you using any QTP options and products if you aren't ready to buy a new pipe instead of the old one. In any other case you'll get troubles and they will make you spend your money.

Will you have problems with the police by installing QTP?

Well, Quick Time Performance kits aren't banned from sellers and they are sold officially in all major car shops. But actually they aren't fully ok with the law. According to the original law statements you can't actually change the appearance and technical qualities of the exhaust pipe. But I've never seen any troubles with the QTP.

Theoretically, you might get troubles by speeding with your damper in the exhaust pipe open and your car roaring for the entire street. You have to obey the rules and keep silence on streets. But the wonderful pro of the equipment is that you can easily get the damper close the side pipe and make your car work as if it's never been changed or tuned.

Should I buy aftermarket or electronic QTP cutout?

You may find dozens of things on the market with different technologies and lots of differences in working types. You might also see the problems with it while choosing because there isn't much information about the technologies. I have to say that I personally hate simple and cheap aftermarket cutouts. They are old-fashioned and don't work properly which gives you the chance to waste the money. And on the other hand, I adore simple and effective electronic QTP options which usually give me such wonderful results:

  • the block off plate in these kinds of models is controlled by an electronic solenoid, so you won't need to go under the car every time to change the position;
  • the driver can control the sound and also the amount of exhaust to any pipe with a simple regulation tool which works easily and doesn't let you down;
  • there is no problem in putting the things into car electric system as the solenoids are 12V and they are powered through a simple relay;
  • in a vehicle in any comfortable place you can locate the switch to turn on, turn off and also control the settings of your new QTP cutout option;
  • this technology offers the highest horsepower growth of any options on the market, there won't be problems and disappointments after purchase.

These are simple ideas of why electronic QTP system seems to be much more interesting and effective than any other idea. This type of cutout also provides you possibility to control the sound. So if you get into troubles with police you can easily set the QTP system to work at minimal power, so that the police wouldn't guess why your car was screaming just a minute ago. There are no cons in electronic system and it also appears to be one of the most effective on the market.

Which price of cutout system should I look for?

Price questions aren't easy to answer nowadays. The problem is that I can't offer you any brand or any technology type. It's up to you to decide which one is your choice. But what I can tell you about the construction is that you shouldn't buy cheap options. Better choose something which is made of stainless steel. It will ensure long work of the instruments and provide you needed results of a purchase.

Also pay attention to the electronic type of control. It's not easy to choose in this sphere until you are a skilful electrician. But in this case you can rely on customer reviews. Look at the ratings of the thing you want to buy. It shows all important sides of the thing which you'll use then for years in your vehicle.

Do I really need some QTP cutout on my car?

Another question which is hard to answer and which often sounds towards me. Well, personally, I made decision to put this thing into my car. But I made it in professional service depot. Otherwise better change your plans. If you want to weld this thing with your own hands, better drive the car with no changes at all. As soon as you install the cutout module with no professional skills in welding, you'll get the exhaust gas coming out of dozens of holes in the pipe. It will be a pity.

If you want to achieve good results, get it done by professionals. Also don't save up your money on buying some cheap options for your vehicle. Any cheap set of QTP won't help you achieve the needed results. You can also find lots of troubles in changing the settings if you buy the equipment of bad quality. Read instructions and buyers' reviews, look at ratings and marks of customers. This will help you decide which cup of tea is yours.
