We've analyzed all available electric vehicles in the US as of mid-2023 and are now ready to tell you which ones offer the best range. We only tool EVs that are mass-produced and are available for order in dealerships across the US. Our goal is not to advertise a certain brand - we just want to build the stats for you to rely on.
Also, we'll provide you with some key information on every EV on our list including the current price so that you could easily choose and make up your mind now. We love all vehicles presented today, so just have fun and tell us in the comments which model you would love to buy!
Let's get started!
10. Ford Mustang Mach E California Route 1 - 312 miles
With a base price of about $60,000, this trim offers 312 miles of range which is mind-blowing. By the way, this is one of the most affordable EVs on our list which still shows the perfect range and wonderful quality.
The vehicle comes with all-wheel drive, offers 346 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. This is enough to speed up like crazy and still offer just a wonderful range. In terms of reviews, people say a lot of good things about the vehicle.
We see that the California Route 1 trim offers an "autopilot" option which is cool for this money. It will only work on some highways around the US but still, the option is great. Also, you will have a lot of features like automated parking and a super-technological 360-degree camera system.
9. Tesla Model 3 Performance - 315 miles
Tesla Model 3 tries hard to still hold in this list of the longest-range EVs on the US market. It struggles to balance between the affordable price and great technical specs that its buyers want to have.
With the price of almost $55,000 for the Performance trim, the Model 3 can go 315 miles on a single charge which is more than good for this money. But compared with just a slightly more expensive Mustang Mach E, you will still get much less in your Model 3.
Still, the Performance version will take you from 0 to 60 MPH in about 3.1 seconds. It offers sport suspension and overall feels like a track-oriented car rather than a comfortable family sedan.
You can pay some more money to acquire one of two possible autopilot upgrade packages but we think those are too expensive and limited to pay for.
8. BMW iX xDrive 50 - 324 miles
Surprisingly, the BMW iX only takes eighth place in the top 10 EVs in terms of range. The German luxury EV costs at least $84,000 and allows you to drive up to 324 miles per charge. The vehicle is luxurious and offers really great features including 516 horsepower of power, a super-modern curved display in the interior, automatic lane control, automated parking, etc.
But for nearly all exclusive BMW features, you will need to pay extra. And this makes the iX one of the poorest luxury EVs on the market for its money. Of course, Bimmer fans will still buy it, not only because of the brand but also because the vehicle really feels cool when you drive it.
Also, we should say a word about the design. It seems that BMW which struggled to make beautiful and outstanding cars for a decade or so finally found inspiration for EVs and now provides us with some industry's best results in terms of what the iX looks like.
7. GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 - 329 miles
This wonderful EV is not for everyone but you've certainly heard about it. The mighty Hummer is back and now it has the electric motor under the hood (or wherever else, we don't really know).
So, for a minimum of $110,000, you may get a super truck that can go 329 miles per one charge of its really huge battery pack. The 219-kWh battery is probably the largest battery you will now see in the EV world. And still, this is the most expensive offer so far on this list! The truck costs more than a luxury BMW.
Well, yes, this EV is not for all drivers and you desperately need to take it for a test drive before paying a deposit to GMC. But we can imagine that this is one of the dream trucks on the American market right now.
6. Tesla Model Y Long Range - 330 miles
Another Tesla is here with 330 miles of range in the "Long Range" trim that costs a minimum of $54,000. Not a lot, we should say. Probably, this is one of the most affordable vehicles that can go over 300 miles on one charge using just electricity.
The Model Y Long Range is a compact SUV with astonishingly fast acceleration and a great minimalistic design. This is a vehicle with nothing too special in it and we would say it's a good value for money. The Model Y doesn't look very futuristic and pretends to be a simple SUV on the road.
We love the way it goes though. The Model Y offers wonderful handling, probably the best one among all known small SUV EVs. Also, the trim is not poor at all with pretty much everything you need for comfortable driving.
5. Tesla Model X Base - 348 miles
If you are ready to pay at least $95,000, then it may be a good idea to buy the Tesla Model X which will go even more than the Model Y, with precisely 348 miles in one charge. We are talking about the cheapest Base trim because the more popular Plaid version will go fewer miles in one charge making it a less advantageous purchase.
The Model X will take you from 0 to 60 MPH in about 3.8 seconds which is the result of the majority of modern supercars. We wouldn't say it looks really cool - just an average modern full-size SUV with weird butterfly rear doors. But inside, the Model X really looks perfect and offers wonderful technologies.
This is an expensive vehicle, so you may consider some other option if you want to save some money. But the Model X is obviously worth every dollar you pay - this is the best thing Tesla may offer today.
4. Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan 450+ - 350 miles
Now we've come closer to the heavyweights of the modern EV market. And the Top-5 on our list is closed by the Mercedes EQS Sedan - one of the coolest German EVs with a very uncool price of $105,000. This is actually the cheapest version of the EQS Sedan, the EQS AMG will cost you almost $150,000! Gosh, it's a lot...
You get 329 horsepower, 350 miles in one charge, and rear-wheel drive. Wait, really? Rear-wheel driver for over $100K. Yes, you will need to pay about $3K extra to get the 4MATIC version with the all-wheel drive that you will not actually need in this vehicle.
Although we at Cararac.com are not fans of Mercedes-Benz and find the design of the EQS Sedan a little... weird and outdated, we love the technical side of the EV. This is one of the most technological and decent cars on our list.
3. Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE AWD Long Range - 361 miles
Unexpectedly, among all those Teslas, Mercedes, and BMWs, we get a .... HYUNDAI! The Ioniq 6 is the most affordable vehicle on this list and it starts at about $43,000. It still can go about 361 miles per one charge which is an amazing result for a more or less affordable EV.
Yes, it's really a weirdly looking car but just think about its opportunities. You can charge it just once and then drive the whole week without caring about the charge percentage you've left in this vehicle.
Hyundai did everything it could to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and we should say we don't know now which EV we would choose for this money. Although no one on our team has ever driven the Ioniq 6, we believe it's not worse than the Ioniq 5 which we have already reviewed and recommended.
2. Tesla Model S Base - 405 miles
You probably expected to see the Tesla Model S in the top position on this list. But the most affordable Base trim of the Model S only made it to the second place with 405 miles of EPA estimated range. You will have to pay at least $85.000 now if you want to get the new Model S and don't forget about some add-ons that you will obviously want to include.
670 horsepower seems enough for this large sedan. It will take only 3.1 seconds to accelerate it from zero to 60 MPH and it's faster than the average supercar can go. The Model S doesn't need a lot of text - it's just one of the best EVs ever made although with some flaws which you probably already know about.
1. Lucid Air Dream Edition Range - 520 miles
It's extremely hard to get your hands on the hot as hell Lucid Air Dream Edition Range EV but officially, these cars are on sale right now. Lucid company has tortured us with teasers for several years and finally, we see some EVs on the road now.
The Lucid Air Dream Edition Range costs at least $170,500 being the most expensive car on our list today. This insane price offers you mind-blowing 520 miles of range, 0-60 acceleration for 2.8 seconds, 235 MPG of the top speed. What else should we say?
This vehicle is something from the future. Its interior is made with the proper understanding of what a person needs in a modern car. And if you are lucky enough to test drive the Lucid Air, you will want to buy it.
Final thoughts
So, if you want the best price and the longest range, you will probably go for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 or for the Tesla Model 3. These relatively affordable vehicles allow you to go over 300 miles on one charge but they are far away from being luxury cars.
If you don't care about money, then Lucid Air or GMC Hummer EV may be your choice.
We love all the vehicles presented on this list and we are glad that EVs become more practical enlarging their range and competing with each other in terms of prices and features.
