Blue Smole From Exhaust Pipe – What’s Going On?

Any excessive smoke from exhaust pipe is a bad idea. But if the color of the smoke is blue, the things are even worse than you might think. Usually the dark-blue smoke says about the burning oil. The oil can burn in the engine in a couple of cases.

First option, and it would be the cheapest one, you used wrong oil. If the problem occurred after you changed the engine oil, this is probably the reason. You will need to check the oil or better to change it for original one or a recommended type of oil. The problem should disappear after that. But not many drivers with their cars releasing blue smoke from exhaust are so lucky.

In majority of cases blue smoke starts coming out of the exhaust pipe in old cars with big mileage. This means that the engine is broken and needs repair. Also, you will notice that the oil level gets lower after you drive 1000 miles. This means that the oil burns because of bad condition of the engine. For example, the piston rings may be in charge for that.

One more option is that valves started leaking oil into the engine. When valve seals are worn out, the oil starts getting into the combustion chamber and it can burn there. When the oil burns, it produces blue smoke that is released through the exhaust pipe.

In any case, your car will need repair. Driving your vehicle showing the blue smoke from exhaust is a bad idea.
