Oil Leaks Into Spark Plugs – What’s The Matter?

If the oil leaks into the spark plug well, it signals about broken gasket, broken pistons or also about broken valve guides. The problem is quite bad, so it should be fixed as soon as possible. Oil in spark plugs won't allow you to use the car. Here we discussed major problems of oil leaks: https://cararac.com/blog/oil-leaks-in-car-major-facts-you-would-need-to-know.html

Oil Leaks 333

So, if oil gets to the spark plug well, the spark plug stops working. It can't ignite the fuel anymore, so one cylinder will be dead. It will cause engine shaking and higher fuel consumption as well as significant loss in car power and torque.

If the problem occurs in one spark plug well, it usually says about local problems with piston or valves. But if the oil is found in all wells, the engine will probably stop working or will work poorly. In this case you'll need to look at gasket.

If the leak is minor, the engine will still be able to work, but it won't be working well. Shaking, sudden stopping and unintentional revving up will be a normal thing for it. Although, sometimes it's not that expensive to repair the engine and keep using it for years to go. So better don't wait for long until the spark plugs just can't work in the puddles of oil and contact the service station.
