What Happens When You Unplug A Car Tracker?

A car tracker is designed in such a way that it will record any movement of your car. This is very important and puts the user at ease knowing wherever his/her car may be, it can be tracked.

When one decides to purchase or hire a tracker, he does so with the assumption that everything will remain in place. What happens when you decide to unplug your tracker? Well, this is not something you should do without caution.

When unplugged, most trackers will keep working thanks to tiny batteries that will keep them alive for a certain period. The device can remain unplugged and still continue to operate thanks to its battery. The tracker will immediately send the alarm code to the server that operates the safety system of the vehicle. So the fleet manager and his team will be able to track the car and they will know if it is in an authorized area or not.

But some older trackers will just die as soon as they are unplugged. So it is important to be familiar with your particular device.

If you are not sure about the manufacturer, it would be wise to call the provider that offered the tracker or the car dealer that sold it about any specific details on how long can a car tracker remain unplugged before dying.

So play safe and keep your tracker plugged!
