Starter Is Dead – How To Fix It And Start The Car?

If the starter is dead, and your vehicle has manual gearbox, you can still start the car without starter. For automatic transmission it's impossible to start the car if the starter is broken, so you'll need to tow it to the service station and have the car repaired if the starter is bad. But today we'll talk about manual transmission.

What you need to do, is to find a person or two to help you, They will push the car in order to achieve the speed of 5 to 7 mph. At this speed, you can start the car by using the second gear and your clutch pedal.

There is a simple instruction to start the car with a bad starter:

1.     Get into the car and press the clutch pedal.

2.     Set the car key to the working position (just one click before it should originally start the car).

3.     Turn to the second gear in order the gearbox could be safe when hard starting.

4.     Ask your helpers to push the car to achieve the 5 to 7 mph speed.

5.     Slowly release the clutch pedal until the car shakes and the engine starts.

6.     Quickly press the clutch pedal and a couple of times press acceleration pedal to ensure the engine works well.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to make with automatic transmission as you won't have a clutch pedal in such cars. The method won't harm your vehicle unless you make some mistakes in the process.
