Used Crotch Rockets For Sale – What To Check?

When buying a used crotch rocket, you'll need to remember a couple of things. First, the motor is basically the most expensive and the most loaded part in the motorcycle of the type. Check the motorcycle engine before taking any decisions.

Also, you'll need to check the milage. The average crotch rocket engine will live up to 50 000 miles if it's used according to the rules and serviced regularly. If the engine is used with poor oil, low quality gas and on extremely high revs, its lifetime will reduce.

Minor scratches after some accidents are OK. But if you see that the major parts of the crotch rocket are painted, you better check it more thoroughly. After major accidents the frame of the sport motorcycle may be affected. And this will mean that you may have a whole bunch of problems.

Driving a crotch rocket that was crashed badly is really dangerous. So you will need to check the motorcycle through available databases and see if it had some accidents. Also, visual control will be a good thing to do. Investigate the frame, look at the engine. If you see obvious damages, oil leaks or other problems, it's a good reason to check another motorcycle and refuse buying this one.

Road accidents with crotch rockets are sometimes not registered as they don't involve any other parties but the motorcycle driver. So, officially the bike can be clean, but you'll need to look at its condition rather than on clean titles and reports.
